Implementation Research on Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation for Non-Anaemic Pregnant Women in Sri Lanka-2026
Summary
This study assessed the implementation of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) among non-anaemic pregnant women in Sri Lanka, examining coverage, adherence, acceptability and supply chain performance. National weighted coverage was 68.6%, with the lowest coverage in the estate sector. Findings highlighted strong programme acceptance and the important role of Public Health Midwives in supporting uptake. However, side effects, misconceptions and supply interruptions affected consistent use. The report recommends strengthening counselling, healthcare provider training and supply chain management, alongside targeted measures to improve equitable access.
