The Research Unit advances evidence-based programming in reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, adolescent, and youth health (RMNCAYH) — identifying the National RMNCAYH Programme's research needs and translating findings back into policy and practice.

Key Activities

  • Identification of the research needs of the National RMNCAYH Programme.
  • Conduction of research in order to address the research needs.
  • Commission external organizations and individuals to conduct relevant studies.
  • Dissemination of the findings of research conducted or commissioned to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compile locally-available evidence on maternal and child health for strategic planning.
  • Strengthen collaborative relationships with research organizations and academic institutions.
  • Build research capacity among public health personnel.
  • Deliver technical guidance to staff conducting research activities.
  • Provide technical expertise for reproductive health emergency preparedness and response using the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) framework.
